Math for Me

Touch. Learn. Remember.

Nemeth Braille learning book

What it is

Each Braille number page, 1 to 9, pairs a raised numeral with its Nemeth Braille equivalent and the matching count of felt counter dots. Later pages move on to addition, and to practice puzzles that ask the child to match a print number to its Braille.

The Math for Me book open, its pages showing large-print numerals beside Nemeth Braille and rows of felt counter dots.

Step by step

How it’s used

  1. Feel the Braille dots beside each number.
  2. Touch and count the felt dots to understand quantity.
  3. Say the number aloud as you feel it.
  4. For addition, feel both numbers, count the dots on each side, then feel the answer.
  5. In the puzzle pages, find the number that matches the Braille and place the felt dots to match.
